Often we like names that we know we can shorten into cute nicknames. The name Desdemona hasn't exactly been a popular one. The name Desdemona is most known as the name of the villainous wife of Shakespeare's
Othello.
That said, in current times we love a villain. Would you be put of a name because of past villainous associations?
Desdemona is wearable and can be shortened to Mona, Desi, Demi etc.
